When should you go to A&E?

We are all being made increasingly aware by the local and national news, that our Accident and Emergency Departments are being used unwisely, causing a significant strain on the services.

The Weardale Practice has a system in place during opening hours to assess urgent requests from patients. If it is deemed clinically necessary, you will be seen by a clinician in an appropriate timescale, often on the same day.

A&E is not an alternative to a GP appointment. If you go to A&E with a minor ailment when your GP practice is open you may not get seen and may be redirected back to your local practice.
