Prescribing of Over The Counter (OTC) medication.

Your GP, Nurse or Pharmacist will not generally give you a prescription for over the counter medication for a range of minor health concerns.

You can buy these medicines at your local pharmacy or supermarket.

The NHS has been spending around £136 million on prescribing medicines that can easily be bought from a pharmacy or supermarket. By reducing the amount of money the NHS spends on OTC medication, priority can be given to treatments for people with more serious conditions.

Please visit http://nhs.uk for more information on the conditions included.
