Every year we choose a number of local charities to support through fundraising activity. Our current causes are:
Hug in a Bag
Founded in Sunderland in 2006 by three breast cancer patients, Hug in a Bag support local women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer by offering a little bag of thoughtful gifts.
Each ‘Hug’ costs around £60 to produce and contains gifts and information that have been developed to help patients share their thoughts, anxieties and concerns, and to feel love in times of fear.
In total, staff at the Weardale Practice have raised over £2,200 for this fantastic local charity.
Teesdale and Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team
Offering a 24 hour search and rescue service every day of the year, the Teesdale and Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team cover all of County Durham from the high fells in the west to the coast of the North Sea.
Now in its 50th year, the service which is staffed solely by volunteers and relies exclusively on donations to fund their annual running costs of £35,000 per year.
