MBBS (Newcastle 1980) MRCGP DRCOG
Dr Lumb has been with the practice since 1987. He offers a full range of general practice care. Dr Lumb is also an appraiser.
Dr Hackett has been with the practice since 1997. He offers a full range of general practice care and has developed a special interest in diabetes and leads our diabetic clinic. He also offers acupuncture for some conditions. Dr Hackett is also our GP lead for research.
MBBS (Newcastle 1994) MRCGP DRCOG DFFP
Dr Dendle has been with the practice since 2002. As well as providing full general practice services, she has a special interest in Women's health, sexual health and contraception. Dr Dendle is also a GP trainer.
MBBS (Newcastle 2008) MRCGP (2013) DRCOG
Dr Rowley joined the practice in 2014. He offers a full range of general practice care. Dr Rowley is also the main provider of medical supervision to Weardale Community Hospital
MBBS (Newcastle 2009) MRes MRCGP DRCOG
Dr Rowan joined the practice in 2015. She provides full general practice services, and has an interest in medical education. Dr Rowan Is now a Partner within the Practice since January 2017.
Dr Fielder came to the practice in 2012 as a trainee and has since returned as a locum and is now a partner. She provides full general practice services and has an interest in mental health and patient engagement
MBChb (Glasgow) MRCGP
Dr T Rowley joined the practice in 2017. He offers a full range of general practice care.
The Weardale Practice has been accredited as a GP training practice and will have attached to it one or more qualified doctors training to specialise in General Practice.
'This practice trains junior doctors. They are fully qualified and have already done training in hospitals. You can expect them to provide a full range of GP services. If they are not certain about what to do they will ask more senior colleagues for advice. Thank you.'
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Helen Crowther (f) – Nurse Manager (Part of the Management Team)
Helen has been at The Weardale Practice for over 10 years and is the Nurse Manager; she leads a successful team of nurses and Health Care Assistants to provide a high standard of care to our patients. Helen also specialises in contraception, Woman’s Health, Health Promotion, wound care and chronic disease management.
Susan has recently joined the practice in April 2018, she has previous experience as a HCA in general practice before completing her Nursing Qualification. Susan is also working to complete her Diabetes Specialist training,
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Christine Brown (f) – Health Care Assistant
Chris works across all 3 Weardale sites and provides a high standard of care to all patients attending for blood tests, ECG (heart monitoring tests) and health checks.
Diana Bell (f) – Health Care Assistant
Di works across all 3 Weardale sites but mainly based at Stanhope Health Centre. Di provides a high standard of care to all patients attending for blood tests, ECG (heart monitoring tests) and health checks.
Karen Nicholson (f) – Health Care Assistant
Karen Works mainly at Stanhope Health Centre providing a high standard of care to all patients attending for blood tests, ECG (heart monitoring tests) and health checks.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
