Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Helen Crowther (f) – Nurse Manager (Part of the Management Team)
Helen has been at The Weardale Practice for over 10 years and is the Nurse Manager; she leads a successful team of nurses and Health Care Assistants to provide a high standard of care to our patients. Helen also specialises in contraception, Woman’s Health, Health Promotion, wound care and chronic disease management.
Andrea Kaye (f) – Practice Nurse
Andrea is now employed by DDHF but will be working in practice here at Weardale on Monday and Tuesday's. Andrea specialises in respiratory, you will see Andrea for breathing reviews and tests. Andrea is a qualified nurse and can see patients for cervical smears, wound care, travel and baby immunisations.
Rachael Gibson (f) – Practice Nurse
Rachael joined the practice in 2015 from the Weardale District nursing team as a treatment room nurse. Now a Practice Nurse, Rachael has a special interest in diabetes and works alongside Dr Hackett at the weekly diabetic clinic and all aspects of diabetes care and treatments. You may also see Rachael for wound care, travel and baby immunisation and ear syringing.
